Gilbert announces new head football coach, AD
Gilbert High School announced its new head football coach and athletics director.
The Indians promoted assistant coach Ozzie Exume to head coach. Exume takes over for Chad Leaphart, who stepped down in December after leading the Indians for eight seasons.
Exume played at Newberry College and served as Gilbert’s offensive line coach from 2016-2023. He becomes Lexington One’s first black head football coach.
The Indians will have a new athletics director as well in 2024.
Nicole Amick will assume the position, becoming the first female athletics director at a Lexington One high school.
Amick previously served as Gilbert Middle School’s athletics director.
