IRS centers holding special Saturday openings for taxpayer assistance

COLUMBIA, S.C.(WOLO)–  Tax season is here and the Internal Revenue Service is offering some assistance for free.

This Saturday, Feb. 24 the IRS will have a taxpayer assistance day at 1835 Assembly Street from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

A spokesperson for the agency says the centers are designed to better serve those who work Monday through Friday.

Anyone who is not able to make it on Saturday does not have to worry because the center will have three more availabilities over the next three months.

The other Saturdays will be on March 16, April 13 and May 18 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Saturday center days offer people in-person help from IRS employees for all services routinely offered at an office, except for making cash payments without an appointment.

“We are laser focused on delivering the best service possible for taxpayers,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel.
