RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Ahead of his performance at the Koger Center, Gospel legend Donnie McClurkin held a master class with Richland One students on Thursday.

The event was held at Lower Richland High School as part of the “Legends of …” series which is held every year.

The series was created by the Auntie Karen Foundation as a way to pay tribute to African American music’s contributions to history.

Richland One students got the chance to talk and interactive with the singer before the “Legends of … Concert” at the Koger Center of the Arts on Friday night.

McClurkin says he never misses an opportunity to inspire young people.

McClurkin, Markin Sapp and Hezekiah Walker will perform in the “Legends of” concert on Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Koger Center.
