RCSD: Investigating after inmate assaulted at detention center

RICHLAND COUNTY, S..C. (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) is investigating after an inmate was assaulted by several others, said the department.

According to RCSD, deputies were made aware of an assault that happened on Feb. 17, at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

After being notified by a RCSD PIO, the department reached out to ASGDC who confirmed that an inmate was assaulted by multiple other inmates at the jail.

Jail officials also confirmed the inmate had a broken jaw due to the incident. The incident is still being investigated by RCSD.
