Hotel staffing low as prices near record high

(CNN)– Hotel guests are paying more while getting less as hotels grapple with lingering staff shortages post-pandemic.

Room rates are at near record highs this winter.

But daily housekeeping, room service and other amenities reduced or eliminated during the pandemic are still lacking at many properties.

The shortage is threatening to push the cost of travel even higher.

That’s because hotel owners are trying to lure workers back with higher wages and to offset that they’re passing along some of the cost to guests.

Workers are hesitant to return to the hotel industry after mass layoffs in 2020.
