U.S. Department of Education announces updates to FAFSA

(CNN)– The Department of Education announced updates to a form prospective college students will fill out for financial aid.

The first update to the ‘free application for federal student aid’ form involves how the department calculates the amount of aid students will get.

Under the new approach, 7.3 million students are expected to be eligible for pell grants.

The department is also going to send support personnel to lower resourced colleges to do needs assessments and help schools with student aid offer packages.
