Sumter County: Man arrested on multiple charges after deputies alerted of stolen vehicle

 

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after deputies were alerted of a stolen vehicle, said Sumter deputies.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted of a stolen vehicle when they seen a GMC Yukon.

Deputies said they called into dispatch about the status of the vehicle and confirmed it was stolen which led to them activating their blue lights.

The person in the vehicle continued to drive and ignore deputies before turning into an open field and bringing the GMC Yukon to a stop.

Deputies said when the driver stopped, he left the GMC and ran into the woods. The driver was found after deputies received a call about a white man seen hiding in the woods.

Deputies and K-9s located and arrested David Randolph Johnson.

Johnson was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he is being held on a $10,500 bond.

He is being charged with failure to stop for blue light, driving under suspension, possession of a stolen vehicle, and distribution of methamphetamine.

Sumter County deputies say they expect additional charges.
