Delta Airlines raises checked bag fee

(CNN)– Travelers have another reason to pack lightly.

Delta Airlines raised the cost of a first-checked bag on domestic flights to $35, which is a $5 hike.

The charge for an additional bag is $45, also $5 more than before.

The increase from Delta doesn’t come out of the clear blue sky as both United and American Airlines boosted their baggage fees last month.

But raising costs to check luggage is something Delta hasn’t done since 2018.

U.S. carriers are making a bundle from baggage fees.
