COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– An Orangeburg man was sentenced to more than three years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute marijuana, said the Justice Department.

According to the Justice Department, Lemont Antwaun Darby, 37, of Orangeburg is accused of being a drug dealer who would regularly receive packages of marijuana through the U.S. mail system from California and elsewhere.

Officials said Darby approached City Carrier Mjaan Roland who worked at the Columbia Main Post Office and Dutch Fork Station to facilitate the delivery of the packages of marijuana.

Darby paid Roland for some of the deliveries by paying him between $100 and $200 and on other occasions he gave him small amounts of drugs.

A judge sentenced Darby to 46 months in prison to be followed by a two-year term of court-ordered supervision.

His codefendant Mjaan Roland previously pleaded guilty and is awaiting a sentencing.
