ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– An Orangeburg County man who was out on bond for burglary charges is now back behind bars on stolen goods charges, says deputies.
According to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old John Romack’s latest charges are three counts of possession of stolen vehicle, possession of tools capable of being used in a crime, resisting arrest, failure to stop for a blue light, and driving under suspension.
Orangeburg County Sheriff’s investigators say they got warrants for Romack after finding information that led to the recovery of two stolen dirt bikes.
On March 4, when deputies attempted to stop an SUV, the driver got out of the vehicle and ran off. But deputies were able to recover a third stolen bike.
After a multi-hour surveillance operation on a Holly Hill home, deputies say Romack was caught.
Previously, he was out on bond on charges of petit larceny, grand larceny, third degree burglary, possession of tools capable of being used in a crime, receiving stolen goods, and receiving stolen goods represented as stolen which is tied to several thefts in May 2023.
“This guy, if you see him coming you better tie everything down. He got arrested, gets out on bond, and goes back to crime,” Sheriff Ravenell says.
Romack is also facing similar charges in Berkeley County, including multiple grand larceny charges and attempted murder.
“It doesn’t appear he’s going to stop. I’m sick and tired of him and people like him who make it their mission to steal what others have worked hard for,” the sheriff says.
