Tesla autopilot driving system gets ‘poor’ rating

(CNN)– A prominent safety group tested advanced driver assistance systems such as Tesla autopilot and it was not impressed.

The systems use different sensors and technologies to help a driver keep their vehicle in its lane and avoid hitting other vehicles.

The insurance institute for highway safety which rates cars and SUV’s for safety, tested 14 systems.

It gave 11 of them a “poor rating” and it says none of them did a good job monitoring driver attention.

The group’s president said some drivers may feel partial automation makes long drives easier but there is little evidence it makes driving safer.
