CPD releases street closures for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — Saint Patrick’s Day is almost here and the Soda City is getting ready for the thousands of revelers who plan to enjoy the weekend of festivities. As people get their green in gear, the Columbia Police Department is clearing a path for all of the upcoming events slated to take place during the 41st annual St. Pat’s in Five Points Festival.
CPD plans to close several roads for the Get to the Green 5K/10K and 1-Mile Family Fun Run, Parades, and live musical guests set to perform throughout Saturday evening. Events are scheduled to begin at 7:30am Saturday March 16, 2024 with the Get to the Green races. Gates to the festival will open at 9am. The St. Pat’s Parade will begin at 10am. The Pot ‘O Gold Playland will be open from 11am -6pm. Live music will be preformed on four different stages in five points from 12 noon – 7pm.
Be prepared for some road closures to begin Friday March 15, 2024 at 6pm in the following areas:
- Harden St. between Devine St. and Blossom St.
- Pavillion St. between College St. and Greene St.
- 700 Saluda St. (southbound) between Greene St. and Blossom St.
- 700 Santee Ave. between Harden St. and Blossom St.
Saturday March 16, 2024 starting at 5am the following roads will be manned with officers who will direct traffic, as well as put up barricades and make sure streets are clear and roads are closed in the following locations:
- Blossom St. and Pickens St. (Eastbound)
- Devine St. and Heidt Street to Devine St. and Queen Streets
Street CPD says will be closed for Saturday’s race will be as follows:
- Devine St. and Meadow St.
- Devine St. and Queen St.
- Devine St. and King St.
- Devine St. and Woodrow St.
- Devine St. and Maple St.
Columbia Police says the list of roads below will be closed for the main festival:
- 600 Harden St.
- Harden St. and Devine St.
- 700 Harden St.
- Greene St. and Harden St.
- 2100 Greene St.
- 800 Harden St.
- 700 Saluda Ave.
- 2000 Devine St.
- 700 Santee Ave.
- Harden & Senate Sts.
- Wheat & Pickens
- Rice & Pickens
- Catawba & Pickens
- Enoree & Pickens
- Saluda & Heyward
- Edisto & Heyward
- Waccamaw & Monroe
- Wheat & Harden
- Lowndes & Blossom
- Harden and Blossom
- Waccamaw & Saluda
- Edgerton & Wheat
- Terrace Way & Wheat
- Pickens St. and Blossom St.
Residents in the following neighborhoods should anticipate barricades during events:

The Columbia Police Department will be on hand to help with traffic flow and say all roads closures will be lifted once all festivities come to an end.
