South Carolina teacher retention rates for the 2022-2023 academic year

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A new report reveals why South Carolina teachers are likely to leave their districts or leave the profession altogether.
“SC Teacher”, a group of expert researchers at the University of South Carolina (USC) were asked by the state legislature to monitor working conditions for teachers in the state.
The group recently released its retention report for the 2022-2023 year.
SC Teacher Executive Director Ann Byrd says their recent report showed three key school factors that appear to have strong influence on retention.
One being, school climate meaning how students engage in the classroom socially and physically. SC Teacher provides new reports annually.
Byrd says together they will paint a larger picture of what is known about the education workforce in South Carolina.
