UPDATE: Body of Missing Lake Carolina kayaker found

Richland Co., SC (WOLO)– The body of a missing kayaker who disappeared in the waters of Lake Carolina has been found.  The Columbia Fire Department and Department of Natural Resources spent hours searching for a missing boater Thursday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson for the fire department,  just before 3pm, a kayaker over turned on Lake Carolina but never resurfaced.

After more than 4 hours after searching for the person, DNR says as they were assisting the Columbia -Richland Fire Department crews discovered the individual’s body in the Northeast Columbia area of Richland County. We are waiting to hear back from the Richland County Coroner’s Office as they work to identify the victim involved in the deadly accident.
