FCC: 24 million Americans still lack high speed internet

(CNN)– A new report from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) highlights the digital divide among Americans.
It found that 24 million people still do not have access to high speed internet. That is 7% of the nation’s population.
The issue is most prevalent in rural areas and on tribal land.
The report also included newly adopted revisions as to what qualifies as high speed internet.
In 2015, the minimum download speed was 25 megabits per second and the minimum upload speed was 3 megabits per second.
Today’s revisions set download standards at 100 Mbps and upload standards at twenty.
