LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One person is dead and three people are injured after a morning collision that caused lanes in Lexington County to be closed, says SCHP.
The collision happened around 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 20, eastbound on I-20 near the 61 mile marker.
Highway Patrol says a Dodge Ram was disabled in one lane on the interstate while two people were attempting to put a trailer they were carrying back on the vehicle after it came loose.
A Jeep drove up on the disabled vehicle and attempted to change lanes to avoid it but another Dodge Ram that was behind the Jeep rear-ended the Jeep, causing the Jeep to hit the enclosed trailer.
The trailer then hit the two people who were trying to reattach it to the vehicle. One of those people died and the other was taken to a hospital.
The drivers of the two other vehicles were taken to a hospital also. The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
