Midlands elementary school host bootcamp style STEM Day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Today was an exciting day of learning for a group of students at H.B. Rhame Elementary School as they dived deeper into the world of science, technology, engineering and math.

The students did it in a unique way with a STEM Day bootcamp style of learning.

The school partnered with the Celebrate Freedom Foundation and students were able to learn about past aviation pioneers, explore drones, a humvee and an attack helicopter.

STEM coordinator Kowankia Harrington emphasized the importance of hands-on experiences in education especially with stem activities.

Harrington hopes that through stem students will aspire to unconventional careers and dream big.
