SCDC: Inmate to be charged after assaulting correctional officer at prison

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– An inmate is going to be charged after assaulting a correctional officer in a Broad River Correctional Institute housing unit on Thursday, said SCDC.

The South Carolina Department of Corrections said the officer was taken to a local hospital to be treated for what they believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

And that the inmate will be charged accordingly.

An inmate assaulted an officer in a housing unit at Broad River CI today. The officer is being treated at a local hospital for what we believe are non-life-threatening injuries. The inmate will be charged accordingly.
