SUMTER, SC (WOLO) – A man is in custody following a disturbance call that led to an attempted stabbing of an officer, according to Sumter Police Department.
On Wednesday, March 20th, investigators say officers responded to a Gaines Road residence after receiving an emergency call to remove someone from the home. The caller was outside when officers arrived. According to investigators, as officers spoke with him about the reason for the call, the man pulled a knife and then lunged, trying to stab one of officers. The officer, however, managed to safely distance himself before the man responded to commands to drop the knife.
Investigators say 24-year-old Keith Undray Anderson Jr. was taken into custody and booked at the county detention center. He is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
