Newberry County deputies warn residents of scam

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)–  Deputies in Newberry County say you should be wary of anyone who shows up at your door unannounced offering to work on your roof.

Investigators say they have received reports of someone approaching homeowners offering to repair missing shingles.

He then asks to come inside to look for leaks.

Deputies say this is a way to trick you into letting them in the home to scout for valuables.

Authorities stress, do not let strangers into your home.
