Allergy season arrived early in the U.S. this year

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Springs beautiful arrival brings more sunshine and flowers and along with it comes pollen.

Presenting a challenge for those with allergies and other respiratory issues. Prisma Health Dr. Todd Sandy says in our area tree pollen is peaking this season.

He advises those with allergies to stay proactive by keeping their doctor informed, staying up to date on medications, monitor the pollen count and be aware of their symptoms.

He also notes prescribed burns are contributing to poor air quality seen in the area which can impact those more susceptible to respiratory issues.

ABC Columbia’s Miya Payton talked with Dr. Todd Sandy to get more on allergy season.
