Study: How much money do you need to live comfortably?

(CNN)– We all know the cost of living has spiked in recent years but that’s just half of the story.

The whole story is worse because just living isn’t the same as living comfortably, being able to afford basic pleasures and not living paycheck to paycheck.

That requires more money. A new study from SmartAsset.com has determined the amount needed to live comfortably in 99 U.S. cities.

The average salary needed to live comfortable in a major city is $96,500 for one person and roughly $235,000 for a family of four.
