United Campus Workers Union of SC demanding livable wages for all university employees
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The “United Campus Workers Union of South Carolina” held a rally on USC’s Horseshoe on Thursday demanding livable wages for all university employees.
The group made up of student workers and staff met in front of the president’s mansion delivering a petition of over 1,000 signatures to president Michael Amiridis.
The demands include a minimum of $20 an hour for part-time, full-time and contract workers as well as a $20,000 minimum stipend for graduate students and a minimum of $40,000 a year for staff workers.
ABC Columbia spoke with one graduate student about the reasons for joining the union.
