Vinyl records outsell CDs for the second year in a row

(CNN)– Vinyl records outsold compact discs last year for the second year in a row.

And they widened the gap by selling about 43 million units or about 6 million more than CDs.

Records are bigger than CDs, more expensive, not portable and the sound degrades every time you play one.

So why are they more popular?

The data does not say exactly why but many enthusiasts love the tactile feel of handling vinyl, looking at the album artwork and manually placing the needle in the grove.
