SCDOT holding annual statewide highway litter clean-up

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Spring Spruce Up is back and South Carolina Department of Transportation will be sending crews out this Thursday to collect litter along highways in counties across the state.

It is an annual event where SCDOT employee volunteers work in groups to collect litter.

This year the department expects 25 hundred employee volunteers to be out on the roadsides and the same safety protocols are in place as they would be for any other road project crews.

SCDOT is asking drivers to be cautious near litter clean-up groups and as always to use caution when driving near active road work zones.

SCDOT says the department picks up litter throughout the year.
