Local counselor gives stress tips during National Stress Awareness Month
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– April is recognized as National Stress Awareness Month.
Local Thriveworks licensed counselor Cierra Glover shares some behavioral symptoms of stress like isolation, depression, anxiety and intrusive negative thoughts.
She also names physical symptoms like tension in your shoulders, frequent headaches and even chronic illnesses like heart disease can be apart of stress.
Glover recommends having coping strategies in place before a burnout happens.
She says stress can be managed through counseling, mindfulness and relaxation techniques like deep breathing.
According to the National Institute of Health, knowing how to manage stress can improve mental and psychical well-being as well as minimize health-related issues.
