Tips to keep in mind during tax filing season

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The individual income tax due date is in about two weeks and for those who are looking to file before April 15, here are some tips to keep in mind from the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs.

The department says to be aware of those looking to steal your identity.

It warns to consider the software you are using to file your taxes by doing your research, protect your identity by using secure networks and do not use public wifi, and if you’re using a tax preparer make sure they are qualified.

Also if you expect to owe a tax bill after you’ve filed and you’re worried you can’t pay the Department of Consumer Affairs says do not panic.
