Firefighters respond to train vs. vehicle collision in Irmo

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– This morning, a driver is okay after a train collided with their car in Irmo.

Irmo Fire officials say the disoriented driver attempted to turn onto Leisure lane from St. Andrews Road shortly after 8 a.m. but instead turned onto the railroad tracks.

Unfortunately a train was coming and pushed the car a quarter of a mile down the track.

Thankfully no injuries were reported to the driver or the train crew but officials say the railroad crossing is closed while crews work to clear the tracks.
