Driver dead after attempting to escape law enforcement during chase

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Highway Patrol says a driver trying to escape law enforcement during a chase in Clarendon County has died in a wreck on Saturday.

It happened around 11:50 p.m. on Luke Godwin Road near Wash Davis Road. According to troopers, the driver lost control during the chase, hit a ditch and overturned.

The driver died from injuries received. The collision is under investigation.
