Americans reportedly saving less money

(CNN)– According to government data, Americans are saving less these days.

The personal saving rate fell to 3.6% in February, the lowest level in more than a year.

As to why people are saving less there could be several factors.

It could just be a continuation of a long-term trend: historically Americans tend to save less after a recession.

But there are other factors as well.

Pandemic-related stimulus plus a lack of spending during shutdowns caused savings to build up during the pandemic.
