Teen arrested in connection with Richland Co. neighborhood shooting, 2 dead at scene
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A 14-year-old has been arrested on two counts of murder after a shooting in a Richland County neighborhood.
The teen is being charged for the murders of Marvin D. Archie and Jayden Scales-Amiker who were both shot on Thursday, April 11, in the 100 block of Angel Garden Way.
Investigators say the shooting was a result of a confrontation that happened because of a robbery that took place the night before.
On April 10, 2024, around 7 p.m. in the 2300 block of Decker Blvd, near the Food Lion; four juveniles robbed another juvenile of his personal items.
The next day the father of the robbery victim and others got into an altercation, say RCSD.
Richland County deputies believe the teen who was arrested for the murders was armed with a pistol that had been illegally modified with a switch at the time of the altercation.
Also deputies say the teen shot and killed the victim’s father and his friend.
The teen also received a gunshot wound in the lower body area and was taken to a local hospital.
The 14-year-old was charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a handgun under 18. He was taken to the juvenile wing of Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Three other teens, a 16-year-old, and two 14-year-olds are charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a handgun under 18, and kidnapping.
Investigators say a fourth teen who also took part in the robbery was the teen who was pronounced dead.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department says the investigation is still ongoing.
