Alex Murdaugh appeals Fed financial crimes sentence
(CNN)– Former Low Country attorney Alex Murdaugh is appealing the 40 year sentence he received earlier this month for federal financial crimes.
Murdaugh pleaded guilty last year to nearly two dozen financial crimes including conspiracy, fraud, and money laundering.
Prosecutors say he stole millions of dollars from his clients and former law firm.
Murdaugh is also appealing a ruling from earlier this year that denied him a new murder trial after his lawyers accused the former Clerk of Court of jury tampering.
He’s serving two consecutive life sentences for the murders of his wife and son.
