Bicyclist killed during collision on highway in Fairfield County

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say a bicyclist has died after being hit by a Mack truck.

Investigators say the cyclist and the truck were both headed west on highway 34 in Fairfield County near Autumn Drive when the truck ran into the bicycle from behind.

Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill identifies the victim as 73-year-old George Christensen from Illinois.

Troopers say the cyclist was killed. No word on if any charges will be filled.
