COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Starting on Thursday, April 25, the northbound lane of South Main Street will be closed from College Street to Pendleton Street on weekdays through May 17, says SCDOT.
The SC Department of Transportation says earlier this week vehicle traffic on South Main Street was shifted west toward the Assembly Street side to allow for the second phase of construction.
Which allows for underground work ahead of construction on the east side of South Main Street.
Businesses on both sides of South Main Street will continue to be accessible. The traveling public is asked to use caution in and around the active work zone.
SCDOT officials say the purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian safety and enhance the appearance of South Main Street between Blossom and Pendleton streets.
