FDA: 1 in 5 milk samples show traces of Bird Flu

(CNN)– One in five milk samples nationwide have tested positive for traces of Bird Flu, according to initial results of a Food and Drug Administration analysis.

Scientists say the risk to the general public is still low and milk on the shelves is safe to drink because of the pasteurization process.

Still these results indicate the Bird Flu outbreak in diary cows is more widespread that previously believed.

According to the CDC, only one human case from a person exposed to infected cows has been linked to the outbreak.
