Buses carrying South Carolina students has collision in NC

(CNN)– An accident involving two buses in North Carolina sent several South Carolina students to the hospital Friday.

7 students and a bus driver were taken to the hospital in Gaston County after two busses carrying South Carolina middle school band students crashed when one charter bus rear-ended the other on I-85.

The students were heading to Carowinds for a class trip. The buses were carrying about 85 middle school students and 21 chaperones.

After the crash, dozens of students were seen walking down the shoulder of the highway to get to a nearby fire station.

Investigators say the driver has been cited for the incident.
