Lexington County deputies requesting public’s help with Sunday morning bar shooting

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help after a Sunday morning shooting at a bar, said the department.

According to the department, deputies responded to a shots fired call at Amici Tavern around 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 28.

Witnesses told investigators two men were arguing inside the bar before going outside, according to Koon.

Deputies said based on the investigation so far, one man shot another in the bar’s parking lot.

Then the shooter drove away in an unknown vehicle while the victim was driven by friends down the road where they were met by EMS.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher stated that the vicitim was Rodney McKensey James Jr., 23, of Wagener.

Coroner Fisher also stated James was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Sheriff Koon said tipsters can remain anonymous by using the Midlands Crimestoppers mobile app.

LCSD was requested on the case by the Swansea Police Department.

Someone who shares information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward, said Sheriff Koon.
