ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says that an Orangeburg man was taken into custody moments after the armed robbery of a local Dollar General.
25-year-old Corey Felder, Jr., has been charged with armed robbery and unlawful carrying of a pistol.
Felder was taken into custody on Sunday, April 28, after employees of a Dollar General on Neeses Highway reported the robbery.
After receiving the call, an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived and provided incoming deputies a description of the suspect and vehicle, says the OCSO.
“About a mile from the store, approaching officers stopped the car,” the sheriff says.
Felder admitted to deputies he took out a firearm “because it was a sign of him having money,” according to the report.
“This individual found out quickly there’s a consequence for taking merchandise while waving a gun around,” the sheriff says.
