1 killed after shooting at post-prom party in Orangeburg County, say deputies

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One teen has been killed following a shooting early Saturday morning at a post-prom party in Orangeburg, says OCSO.

Orangeburg County deputies say they responded to a call about a murder and an aggravated assault.

When they arrived to the scene, Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office deputies found someone lying on the ground leaning on the passenger side of the vehicle with a gunshot wound in his arm.

While at the scene, the deputy was told that someone was on the other side of the home with an unresponsive person.

A paramedic at the scene checked the victim for a pulse but could not find one and confirmed the death, says OCSO.

The mother who hosted the party told investigators she held the party so the kids would not be in the streets after the Lake Marion prom.

She also told Orangeburg County deputies that she was shutting the party down when shots rang out.
