CPD gets ready to help residents ‘Fan the Heat’

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — The summer has not officially started, but the summer heat is already starting to creep in.

For that reason, the Columbia Police Department is asking residents to help the most vulnerable members of the community in need stay cool. The Police department is getting ready to kick off their annual ‘Fan the Heat’ drive where they collect fans that are later given away.

This year CPD is asking you to do your part and there are several ways you can get involved. Officials are asking for donations of new air conditioners, new fans, and even a simple financial contribution. You can drop your gifts off at one of the several locations listed below.

  • Metro Region – 1800 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201
  • North Region – 3905 Ensor Avenue, Columbia, SC 29203
  • Southeast Region – 2132 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205
  • West Region – 690 Club Road, Columbia, SC 29212

While there is a little more than a month left before the first day of Summer June 4, 2024, now is the time to start sending in your donations so CPD can get them to those in need.
