Job growth slows as economy adds 175K jobs

(CNN)– The economy added just 175- thousand jobs last month, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That’s much less than economist’s were expecting and the slowest growth since October.

Economists have been anticipating a slow down in the labor market from the pressure of high interest rates.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate ticked higher to 3.9%.

April marked the 27th consecutive month the jobless stayed under 4%, a streak last seen in the late 1960s.
