Newberry County coroner identifies victim of domestic violence related incident
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry County Coroner has identified the victim of a shooting incident involving a family dispute, says the coroner’s office.
On early Sunday morning, May 5, Newberry Police Department officers responded to a shooting involving a family dispute in the Nance Forest Complex in the City of Newberry around 2:48 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, someone with an apparent gunshot wound was found. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece identifies the person as 24-year-old Diamond Kennedy of Newberry as the victim who was pronounced at the scene of the Nance Forest
Complex.
Officers say a second person who was involved in the shooting was bleeding profusely from the face and mouth area.
Newberry County EMS took that person to Newberry County Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
Investigators say the incident was domestic violence related and therefore there was no immediate danger to the public.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Newberry Police Department, Newberry County Coroner’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
