Troopers investigating Saturday afternoon collision in Newberry County

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is investigating a Saturday afternoon collision in Newberry County, says highway patrol.

Authorities report that around 1:25 p.m., a truck drove off the left side of Jalapa Road near Beth Eden road in Newberry County and hit a tree.

The Toyota Tacoma veered onto the left side of the road, hit a ditch, and then hit a tree.

SCHP says one person in the truck died at the scene due to their injuries and the other person was taken to a local hospital.
