Blythewood High auctions off fiddle art to raise money for orchestra

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (WOLO)– One school is auctioning off painted fiddles to raise money for the school’s orchestra.

Blythewood High School has been holding the project since 2009 when it was created by Sherry Trusty while her daughter was apart of the school’s orchestra.

School officials say at each Blythewood High School Orchestra Concert 10-12 fiddles are auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Each year one student leads the project and all of the proceeds from the sold fiddles go back to the orchestra program and also helps fund a scholarship for a student to attend the String Project Summer Camp.

From until May 10, anyone looking to support the students can bid on a fiddle here. The orchestra will hold its free concert on Friday, May 1o at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
