Palmer candy products recalled for possible salmonella contamination

(CNN)– Palmer Candy Company announces a recall of its “white coated confectionary items” due to a potential salmonella threat.

The Food and Drug Administration says the affected products were sold nationwide and to distributors in at least 17 states including South Carolina.

Salmonella can be fatal for children, the elderly and people with weak immune systems.

Symptoms include fever, nausea and abdominal pains.

Officials say no related illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who bought these items are advised to return them for a full refund.
