Mother’s Day holiday

(CNN)– Sunday is Mother’s Day! The idea of Mother’s Day was first suggested in 1872.

But West Virigina Activist Anna Jarvis is credited with creating the holiday.

Jarvis campaigned for a national observance of her mother in 1908.

Mother’s day became an officials U.S. holiday in 1914.

Traditionally, gifts like flowers or cards are given and this year’s no exception.

The National Retail Federation predicts consumers will spend over $33 billion on mom this year.
