The first-ever Myrtle Beach Classic now has a champion.

Chris Gotterup finished the tournament at 22 under, shooting four under par on the final day and walking away from the Dunes Golf & Beach Resort as a winner.

The 24-year-old entered the final day with a four-stroke lead but back-to-back bogeys to open the final round put his winning chances at risk.

However, stellar play on holes three through five took him to two under par and Gotterup would not look back from there.

Gotterup birdied on the final hole to seal his first-ever PGA Tour win and secure himself a spot in next week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

Alistair Docherty and Davis Thompson tied for second, both shooting 16 under par throughout the tournament.
