Social security making changes to expand access
(CNN)– More people will soon qualify to apply for social security thanks to a new rule that expands the definition of a public assistance household.
Starting September 30, a public assistance household will include those receiving SNAP payments.
It will also include households with at least one SSI recipient and at least one other household member who received public income maintenance.
Officials say this will not only help more people qualify but it will also increase payment amounts for some recipients.
As well as reduce reporting burdens for people living in public assistance households.
