TRACK Trail opens in the City of Cayce
CAYCE, S.C. (WOLO)– The weather is getting nicer and people are spending more and more time outside and there’s a new place to hit the trail in Cayce.
On May 15, elected officials officially cut the ribbon for the new TRACK Trail grand opening which is located near the city’s riverwalk entrance off North Avenue, say officials.
City officials say the new TRACK Trail offers visitors a series of self-guided activity brochures that turn an ordinary hike into a fun-filled, discover-packed adventure.
“With each of our TRACK Trails, we hope to engage children in the joys of outdoor exploration. Our ultimate goal is to help families fall in love with nature, allowing them realize the value our parks and public lands hold for their lives,” said Jason Urroz, Director for Kids in Parks.
Also, the trail’s Types of Trees activity helps children learn about the different varieties of oak, maple, and pine trees found along the trail.
The Birds of the Woods and Wetlands activity provides participants with identification information for some of the park’s popular bird species.
“The City of Cayce is grateful to Kids in Parks for selecting our prized Riverwalk as a site for this cool, educational, and healthy opportunity. We look forward to watching the public enjoy it for years to come,” exclaimed Cayce City Manager, Tracy Hegler.
Kids who participate in the program can register their TRACK Trail adventures at KidsinParks.com to earn a series of prizes designed to make their next outdoor adventure even more fun and meaningful.
