SCHP investigates deadly car accident

Florence, SC (WOLO) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate a deadly accident they say took place Wednesday night. According to authorities, the driver of the car was heading north along U.S. Highway 301 near Rushmore Loop while trying to get away from police.

During an effort to evade law enforcement, Highway Patrol says the driver veered of the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and several trees. Officers say the driver was taken to an area hospital where they later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities say there was no contact between law enforcement and the driver. No other cars were involved in the crashand the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
